General Circulation & Periodicals Policies
Patrons may place holds on items available for check-out which are located within the library’s collection. Periodically, throughout the day, holds will be pulled from the collection and put on the hold shelf for patrons. Patrons will be notified when their hold is ready to be picked up.
Patrons may place holds on items that are currently checked out. Once the item returns to the library, the patron will be notified.
All holds may be placed by using the Kent Library catalog at http://galahad.searchmobius.org/search~S3.
Patrons may recall items which are currently checked out to other patrons. A recall will give the patron who currently has the item a notification that they must return the item within seven days of the recall. Once the item is returned, the person who placed the recall will be notified. Recalls must be completed by library staff at the Circulation or Periodicals Desk.
Patrons who are Missouri residents and are 16 years of age or older, may obtain a library card for Kent Library. Community patrons may check out items from the library and use Interlibrary Loan. There is no fee to become a community patron.
Reference materials may be checked out with the permission of a Reference Librarian. Check out periods run from one to three days, depending on the reference item.
Patrons are welcome to make copies or scans from reference materials (copyright rules apply).
Bound Journals do not circulate. Patrons are welcome to make copies or scans of articles in bound journals (copyright rules apply). Patrons may also make an Interlibrary Loan request to have articles scanned and sent to them via e-mail.
To make an Interlibrary Loan request, visit the interlibrary loan section.
Current journals may be checked out by University faculty members.
