What Would You Like to Read About?

Kent Library encourages student engagement in our collection development by asking the student body at Southeast Missouri State University, "What would you like to read about?" This initiative allows students to nominate and ultimately select a subject area they believe should be enhanced within the library’s collection.

Each fall, a call for subject area nominations is sent out to the student body. Once nominations are collected, a ballot is distributed to choose the winning area. After the subject area is selected, an announcement is made, and the appropriate Liaison Librarian will compile a list of materials to purchase using $1,000 from the library’s materials budget.

This initiative is on hold for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The materials selected through this initiative will be purchased with the expectation that they are ready for use by the start of the following spring semester.

For questions about the “What would you like to read about?” Initiative, please contact the Acquisitions Department at kentacquisitions@semo.edu or by phone at 573.651.2747.
