Kent Library's Athenaeum Fall Series–Dr. Alan Journet, Department of Biology: Climate Change: The Current Consensus. Wednesday October 7, 2009 Noon Kent Library Sadie's Place

In February 2007, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released its Fourth Assessment Report (AR4).  This report offered the conclusion regarding climate changes that become the scientific consensus.  Their conclusion stated:  1) That climate change is happening is unequivocal, 2) That there is a greater than 90% probability that human activity releasing greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere is at least in part responsible, 3) That there is a greater than 90% confidence attached to the conclusion that human activity has warmed the planet since the Industrial Revolution began in 18th Century Europe.  Dr. Journet will briefly summarize the consensus regarding what is causing the planet to warm and discuss some of the more recent evidence. The presentation is free, open to all, and refreshments will be provided. For more information, visit
