Ultra-Endurance Exercise: Are There Limits to Human Endurance? Wednesday, September23, 2009 at 12:00noon inKent Library’s Sadie’s Place.

In this presentation Dr. Mark Langenfeld, professor in the department of health, human performance and recreation, will discuss ultra-endurance athletics. Have you ever wondered how many miles can a person run, swim, or bicycle in one day? While ultra-endurance exercise can be defined as lasting beyond four hours, plenty of people have tested themselves for every one of the 86,400 seconds in a single day! Drawing on his experiences as an observer, crew member, participant, and researcher of ultra-endurance performance, Dr. Langenfeld will explore the world of ultra-endurance accomplishments. The presentation is free, open to all, and refreshments will be provided. For more information, visit http://library.semo.edu/info/athenaeum2009.shtml.
