Keyword Search

You can enter keywords and the computer will look for a match for those terms in the records of all the items in the library.

Use a Keyword search when you:

  • are doing a preliminary search and need ideas for additional search terms
  • need to combine two or more concepts
  • are searching for a phrase
  • want to see what is available in the library on your topic

A Keyword search provides a fill-in box to type in your search word or phrase

one word catalog is searched for any records that contain this word
phrases catalog will first search the words as a phrase.

example: country music stars will be searched as "country music stars"

If the words aren't found as a phrase (i.e. right next to each other) the catalog will look for any records where all three words appear in any order

example: country music stars will be searched as country and music and stars
