Where are the laptops available for check out?

Who may borrow a laptop?

Faculty, staff, and currently enrolled Southeast students, who are
in good standing, are eligible to check out laptops using their
Southeast ID.

How long can I check out a
laptop?

A laptop is due three (3) hours from the time it is checked out
and/or one-half hour before the library closes. Please refer to the
library hours for closing times at the following link:

If no one is waiting to check out a laptop, it may be renewed one
time for three additional hours by bringing the laptop with all its
components to the circulation desk.

Can I reserve a laptop in advance?

Returns:

Laptops must be returned in person to a supervisor at the
Circulation Desk.
-
Laptops must be returned half an hour before the library
closes.

Remove any disks (floppy, CD, or DVD) that you were using
with the laptop prior to returning it. Disks found in the laptops will
be placed in Lost & Found at the Circulation Desk.

Allow fifteen minutes to wait for the laptop to be
evaluated before it is checked in. The supervisor at the circulation
desk will check to see that the laptop is undamaged and in working
condition.

Fines and Replacement Charges:

Overdue laptop fines are assessed at a rate of $30 per hour, with a
maximum assessment of $500. Replacement charges of $2,600 plus all
applicable fees are added if the laptop is not returned by the end of
the day that it was checked out. An unreturned laptop is considered
lost and a non-refundable $20 processing fee in addition to the
aforementioned fees will be assessed to the patrons university
account. In the event that a laptop is not returned by the end of the
day, the Department of Public Safety is notified. If the laptop is
returned within three (3) days, the replacement cost ($2600) is removed
from the patrons account, but the $20 processing fee and overdue fines
will still apply.

Lost, Stolen or Damaged Laptops:

Please be careful with the laptop. Return all of the laptop
checked-out components. The patron who checks out a laptop is
responsible for that laptop until it is returned, evaluated, and checked
in. If a laptop is lost, stolen, or damaged while it is checked out or
is returned with missing components, the patron who checked it out is
liable for the costs up to $2,600 for replacing or repairing the laptop
or its components.
