Holds Policy

Holds Policy

Kent Library does not retrieve or hold items available in the collection for patrons picking items up on the main campus.

This policy is for two reasons:

  1. We do not have sufficient staff to retrieve items.

  2. Items are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Holds (requests) may be placed when an item in Kent Library is unavailable (checked out, in processing, off campus, or missing).  These holds can be placed at the Circulation Desk, or through the Request button in the Kent Library Catalog.  When the item becomes available, the Library will notify the patron and keep the item on the hold shelf for two weeks.  After two weeks, the item will be re-shelved.

Kent Library staff will retrieve items for patrons who cannot retrieve them due to a disability.

Southeast faculty, staff, and students may request that books available in the collection be sent to the regional campuses.
