Athenæum Series

Kent Library's Athenæum Series, initiated in fall 2007, derives its name from a long history of open forums and lectures based on associations of persons interested in scientific and literary pursuits. The name is derived from the classical Greek goddess Athena, goddess of wisdom. These open forums of public lectures and discussions developed in Greece, later spreading to Rome, and eventually to Western Europe.

Athenæum events are hosted by Kent Library's staff and faculty and showcase the expertise of campus faculty as well as student performers from the Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts located at the River Campus.

All events are free and everyone is welcome. Snacks are usually available. Please join us as we carry forward an ancient but still vibrant tradition.
