Special Collections and Archives at Southeast Missouri State University acquires, preserves, and makes accessible research materials that document the historical, literary, and cultural experience of Southeast Missouri, the Mississippi River Valley region, and the history of Southeast Missouri State University.

While the holdings of Special Collections and Archives are developed in relation to instructional and research interests within the University, all holdings are available for use by visiting scholars and the general public, as well as by Southeast faculty and students.

Special Collections is located on the third floor of Kent Library in Room 306. Information on getting to Cape Girardeau, parking on campus, and obtaining parking passes is available through the Department of Public Safety.

Hours   Open all other times by appointment only. 
Hours are subject to change during the times when the University is not in session.  
Researchers are advised to call ahead to confirm the hours.  

Advance notification of your visit and research topic will also enable the staff to prepare for your visit and to provide better service.


Due to a professional development workshop, Special Collections and Archives will be closed August 11th through August 15th. If you need access to our collections, please contact Roxanne Dunn at (573)-986-7446 or rdunn@semo.edu to schedule a private appointment.


Normal summer hours resume Monday August 18th.
