Recording of ceremony that took place on September 1, 1973, dedicating the mural painted by Missouri artist, Jake Wells, in Kent Library, on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University.  The mural depicts the historical chronology of Southeast Missouri.  Nearly a third of the presentation is musical.  Speakers include:  Dr. Mark Scully, President of the university; Raymond C. Vogel, Alumni Council President; Rush H. Limbaugh, Sr.; Charles C. Leming, Alumni Council Vice-President; and Jake Wells.  Running time:  00:56:03. Cards containing the names, addresses, service branches, dates of enlistment, and in some cases information on service, where they were stationed, were they wounded, etc. of students who were enrolled at Southeast Missouri State Teachers College before serving in World War I.

Contents include lists of Southeast Missouri State Teachers College students who served and were decorated in WWI, as well the students who contributed to the memorial fund, the Southeast Missouri State Teachers College’s Service Flag, decorated with blue stars representing each of the College’s students who served in WWI and 18 gold stars representing the 17 male and 1 female students who died in the line of duty. Also included is the Capaha Arrow from the flag ceremony on November 18, 1921, as well as other newspapers from October 1923, telling of the bronze memorial tablet placed in one of the main pillars of Academic Hall, unveiled at the College’s 50th Anniversary celebration; and the 50th Anniversary Bulletin of the Southeast Missouri State Teachers College, 1923.
