Magill Hall Dedication Program, 1961. 1 item.2001.007.
Recording of dedication ceremony of the new Magill Hall science building on the campus of Southeast Missouri State College on October 12, 1961.The building was named for Dr. Arthur C. Magill, Professor of Chemistry, Emeritus, and took place on his 80th birthday.  In this recording, the invocation is given by Reverend Donald G. Pelsue, and the welcome address is by President Mark F. Scully.  Dr. Magill presents a speech entitled “From My Viewpoint.”Dr. E. U. Condon, Chairman of the Department of Physics from Washington University in St. Louis follows with a dedicatory address, ‘Improving the Teaching of Science,” followed by a benediction by Dr. Robert C. Holliday.  Running time: 01:11:15.

Miller Reserve Collection, 2004-2013 0.5 linear feet. 2013.008.
The Miller Reserve Collection documents the donation and development of the Miller Reserve, a 27 acre plot of land donated to Southeast Missouri State University by alumni Dr. John Lawrence, his brother Dr. Addison Lawrence,  and their family in 2008. The Lawrence family, who had farmed this land for generations, donated the Reserve to the University to be reclaimed back to wetlands. This project is a joint effort between the University, the Federal Wetland Reserve and the Missouri Department of Conservation. This collection contains land deed records, maps, photographs, correspondence and scientific reports by students and researchers.
