| Historical Note |
|
The Cape Girardeau Eagle was
originally published by Ben F. Herr from 1857 until the May 26 1859 issue, when
the publisher changed Herr & Moor.
The February 1861 through the March 21 1861 issues were published by M. H. Moor.
At this point the publishers closed down the paper and left Cape
Girardeau.[1] Beginning May 10, 1862 the newspaper was once again published, but the name changed to Cape Girardeau Eagle: Union Series. It was published “under the auspices of the First Wisconsin Cavalry” because the commander wanted to communicate with entirety of the district under his command.[2] The Union Series ran for 12 issues. |
