Biographical Note
Horace Mann was born May 4, 1796 and died August 2, 1859. He was an American educational reformer, restructured the educational system in his home state of Massachusetts and as well as serving as a state and U.S. representative. He also served as the first president of Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, from 1853 until his death.
Scope and Content Note
This collection contains and address of Hon. S.D. Fess of Ohio on the life of the late Horace Mann and the brochure advertising the centennial celebration of the birth of Horace Mann. Additional information on the exhibit itself can be found in the Library Exhibits Scrapbook.
