Papers relating to Friant's careers in business and public service, an important promoter of economic development for Southeast Missouri, as an officer in the Himmelberger-Harrison Land and Investment Company (1915-1925), as special representative for the Little River Drainage District Association, as Secretary-Treasurer of the National Drainage Association (1931-1933), and as Special Assistant to the Secretary of Agriculture (1933-1935).  Includes correspondence, copies of federal documents regarding rural population, flood control, land reclamation, drainage, and farm relief, copies of Friant's speeches, photographs, and documents relating to his service with the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents and the Cape Girardeau Rotary Club.
