Organizational Sketch
The
organization of academic departments into colleges began with the 1976-1977
academic year. Formerly organized into divisions (Business, Business Education),
the College of Business (COB) was established on July 1, 1976. The COB was
retitled the College of Business and Public Administration in March 1983, and
changed to the College of Business Administration in Fall 1988. The College
gained its current formal title as the Donald L .Harrison College of Business in
1993. Throughout its history, various departments and courses have come and
gone, such as the Department of Computer Science which was once housed in the
college. Currently, the college is organized into the Department of Accounting,
the Department of Economics and Finance, and the Department of Management and
Marketing. The college currently holds accreditation by the Association to
Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB International) and
the Network of International Business Schools (NIBS). The college offers both
undergraduate and graduate programs. The college also houses an Academic
Advising Center and the International Business Center.
Scope and
Content Note
Publications
of the COB and its departments intended for general distribution, including
academic guides, event information, brochures, newsletters, and reports. Over
the years, departments have changed names, merged or even changed colleges.
Whenever possible, the most current departmental organization is used here. This
is sometimes impossible since areas of study, which are presently in different
departments, were not so in the past and vice versa. Documents concerning the
college are arranged first, followed by its departments and programs arranged
alphabetically.
