Online Exhibit: Elizabeth Lutman Gordon

Harriet Elizabeth Lutman Gordon was an instructor for the University Training High School from 1928 until 1931. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri in 1927 and bachelor’s degree in education from Southeast Missouri State Teacher’s College in 1928. In 1948 Southeast Missouri State College chose her poem, “Anniversary” to help commemorate the College’s 75th Anniversary, the Diamond Jubilee Celebration.

Special Collections and Archives houses a bound volume (70p) of poems by Harriet Elizabeth Lutman Gordon, including one written to celebrate the 1948 Diamond Jubilee anniversary of the Southeast Missouri State Teachers College, and an index of the publications in which the poems originally appeared.
